Gambia is known as the smiling coast of Africa. Yeah, that can be true. A lot of people were smiling and I can see that from Sunkung Danso who hosted me during this visit. We went to several cities hosting a few meditation sessions. I took me some effort because Gambian people have never heard about meditation before. Some were reluctant to do it. However, many people tried and loved it and I had several beautiful memories from my stay there.

The first session was in Instituto Tecnologico Centro Americano (ITCA) in Santa Tecla. There were 288 vocational education students that will learn meditate for the first time. But the institute prepared them asking them to draw pictures about meditation and inner peace. I guided meditation for 30 minutes. And for those who meditated, it didn’t feel like half an hour. They were a bit shy in sharing their experience but some mentioned that they didn’t feel the awareness of the body and didn’t hear the voice at some point but still being able to maintain concentration the whole time. Some asked question about the sleepy mind, how to use meditation to help improve their sleep and sleep a bit less, how to know when you need to clean the mind once it got contaminated a lot.

I visited Honduras for the first time and organized 16 meditation sessions for 787 people. I stayed in Yogas Garden, which is less than an hour drive from Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. It is more than satisfactory to see more responses from people, organizations and the media. This visit was longer than the previous meditation events in Honduras and it allows sharing with different publics that had not been reached before. People were so interested and keep to come back session after session. Many found the charm of meditation and will establish this inner peace time habit as a part of their lives.
